The project aims at validating new molecular mechanisms of striatal dysfunction and neurodegeneration. The main aim is to visualize and study the relevance of abnormal signaling of selected nuclear hormone receptors (including those related to retinoid signaling) in neurodegenerative diseases.
Such studies will be carried out at tissue and cellular level using newly developed dedicated biochemical sensors. The relevance for neurodegeneration will be addressed using mouse models relevant to Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. To gain insight into molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, the analyses of these animal models will be carried out using genomic (RNAseq, ChIPseq, proteomics) and cellular biology (primary cell cultures) techniques and diverse imaging approaches, starting from in vivo imaging to high-resolution imaging. Through better understanding of mechanisms involved in neurodegeneration, we also plan to propose novel strategies of neuroprotection. Thus testing neuroprotective activities of synthetic or newly discovered endogenous ligands of retinoid receptors is envisaged and should highlight new pharmacological or nutritional strategies in prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
We are looking for highly motivated PhD fellow, with good English level and background in cellular neurobiology or alternatively in biochemistry. Although any technical expertise in molecular biology, primary cell cultures, imaging will be acquired, any experience in these techniques will be of benefit. The candidate should be willing to bring personal input to the challenging multidisciplinary project, write scientific papers, contribute to preparation of research grants and participate in animating team’s life.
Applicants should submit their complete application file (CV, motivation letter, publication list and contact to at least two reference scientists in one PDF file) by email.
