Official launching of the ESFRI integrative structural biology infrastructure : INSTRUCT
Feb. 23, 2012
On Februar 23rd 2012 in Brussels, representatives of the 7 member states signed the accession agreement of INSTRUCT, a European infrastructure in integrative structural biology, in the presence of M. Robert-Jan Smits, Director general for research and innovation of the European Commission. Structural data of multiple technologies from different time and size scales, in vitro and in a cellular context will allow a better understanding of how proteins, protein complexes or pathogens are dynamically interacting in their functional environment.
The IGBMC and the PSB (Partnership for Structural Biology), rallying the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS) and the International mixt unity UVHCI (Unit of Virus Host Cell Interactions) in Grenoble, are the two French nodes of Instruct. These two centers also belong to the National infrastructure FRISBI selected through the French call “Infrastructures in biology and health” of the “Investissements d’avenir” that also gathers National nodes in Montpellier, Marseille and Paris. This enables to broaden the Instruct scale and the variety of tools and expertises in integrative structural biology accessible to the scientific community.
