BREAST CANCER SCREENING

Nearly 20,000 cases of breast cancer could be prevented each year, representing one-third of all new cases in 2023.

Pink October is an annual international campaign held every year from October 1 to October 31 to raise awareness about breast cancer screening and raise funds for research.

Key Figures in France:

  • More than 61,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in France.
  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death among women.
  • When detected at an early stage, breast cancer is curable in 9 out of 10 cases.
  • 60% of breast cancers are detected at an early stage.
  • 7.3% are detected at a metastatic stage.

The French League Against Cancer (La Ligue contre le Cancer) is organising a campaign entitled “Kind Words Against Cancer.”

Dare to speak up and encourage your loved ones, with kindness and sincerity, to consult a doctor or midwife at least once a year and, from the age of 50, to take part in breast cancer screening.

Take care of yourself, get screened!
