Nacho Molina est le chef de groupe du laboratoire de Biologie des Systèmes Stochastiques. Ayant une formation en physique théorique, Nacho Molina a poursuivi un doctorat en biologie computationnelle à l'Université de Bâle sous la supervision du Prof. Erik van Nimwegen. Pendant cette période, il a reçu une formation exceptionnelle en statistiques bayésiennes, apprentissage automatique et régulation génique. Après avoir terminé son doctorat, Nacho Molina a effectué un post-doctorat à l'EPFL dans l'équipe du Prof. Felix Naef, collaborant étroitement avec l'équipe du Prof. Ueli Schibler à l'Université de Genève. Par la suite, il a obtenu la prestigieuse bourse Chancellor’s Fellowship pour établir un groupe de recherche indépendant à l'Université d'Édimbourg. Plus récemment, Nacho Molina a obtenu la Chaire d'Excellence INRT et la Chaire IDEX pour l'Attractivité de la Recherche afin de créer un programme interdisciplinaire intégrant des méthodologies computationnelles et expérimentales de pointe à l'IGBMC.
