John Mattick, Professor of RNA Biology at UNSW Sydney, is one of the most influential researchers in his field. As the former Chief Executive of Genomics England, he led the UK's National Vision and Plan for Genomic Healthcare (2019-2023). He has also directed prestigious research institutions such as the Garvan Institute in Sydney and the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at the University of Queensland.
A true visionary, Professor Mattick has revolutionized our understanding of the crucial role of non-coding RNA in the development of humans and complex organisms. His contributions are remarkable: over 300 scientific publications, cited more than 95,000 times, ranking him among the world’s top experts in non-coding RNA.
His achievements have earned him honors such as the Gutenberg Professorship at the University of Strasbourg, the Chen Medal from the Human Genome Organisation, and recognition from prestigious academies and international organizations.
