The Marigny Prize, valued at 50,000 euros, was established by the association "Alsace Against Cancer" following a generous bequest from Mrs. Marigny, who chose to support cancer research after her death.
This prize aims to encourage innovative research projects led by Alsatian researchers, and this year, five projects have been selected.

Among the awardees, three teams from the IGBMC stand out for their promising work.

Dr. Céraline's team is working on prostate cancer, particularly focusing on the role of the androgen receptor in metastasis progression. Thanks to the Marigny Prize, they will be able to explore a new research avenue aimed at understanding how cancer cells, by mimicking embryonic development mechanisms, manage to leave their organ of origin to migrate and form metastases.

Dr. Metzger and his team are also committed to the fight against prostate cancer. They rely on new technologies to precisely characterize prostate cancer lesions. The goal is to better understand the progression of the disease, identify new diagnostic markers, and thereby develop targeted therapies, improving the treatment of this cancer.

Finally, Dr. Tomasetto's team is working on breast cancer, studying the use of cholesterol by cancer cells. This grant will enable them to explore a new therapeutic pathway by attempting to block this mechanism, delving deeper into the molecular and cellular processes involved, in hopes of developing a new targeted therapeutic approach against breast cancer.

These projects embody the hope for a decisive breakthrough in the fight against cancer, thanks to bold research and innovative approaches.
