FRIDAY LECTURES : Histone variants and their partners shaping chromatin and cell fate, Friday, 7 November, at 3 p.m., auditorium IGBMC

|

Geneviève Almouzni, Honorary Director of the Curie Institute Research Center in Paris, is a leading figure in chromatin biology and epigenetics.
A member of EMBO, the French Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, she has been leading the Chromatin Dynamics team at the Curie Institute (UMR3664 CNRS / Curie) since 1999.

A world leader in understanding the organization and function of the genome, her work explores how chromatin, the structure that compacts DNA in the nucleus, regulates gene expression. By combining biochemistry, cell biology, and advanced imaging, she studies the role of histones and their variants, key epigenetic markers that influence cell fate.

Author of over 220 publications and recipient of numerous awards, Geneviève Almouzni is a major figure in European research.

Conference Abstract:

Our goal is to understand chromatin assembly, from the nucleosome to higher-order nuclear structures. We study histone chaperones and the dynamics of histone incorporation, revealing their role in marking specific genomic regions and their involvement in certain aggressive forms of breast cancer.

Using model organisms such as Xenopusand themouse, we combine biochemistry, cell biology, and developmental biology to explore key nuclear domains, such as centromeric heterochromatic regions.

Ultimately, these studies are expected to open new medical perspectives, particularly for better understanding and treating certain cancers.

The conference is organized and hosted by Sophie Jarriault.

A unique opportunity to hear from an exceptional scientist!
