A projet supported by La Fondation Recherche Alzheimer
What if certain "ageing" cells, known as senescent cells, play a key role in Alzheimer's disease?

This is the question posed by Bill Keyes' team. Their goal: to understand whether these cells contribute to the formation of amyloid plaques, the hallmark deposits of the disease.
Using mass spectrometry, a cutting-edge technology, the researchers will analyse the traces left by these cells to better target them. They will then test whether inhibiting these cells could limit the formation of these deposits and slow the progression of the disease. This ambitious project, supported by the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, will start in 2025 and run for three years. A promising development that could open up new avenues in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
