Two Researchers Honored by the French Academy of Sciences!

|

On June 17, 2025, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Grandes Avancées Françaises en Biologie, the French Academy of Sciences welcomed researchers and awardees to the prestigious André and Liliane Bettencourt Auditorium.

Among the scientific presentations selected this year, Marlène Vayssières presented the results of the article "Structural basis of DNA crossover capture by Escherichia coli DNA gyrase", recently published in Science. She was joined by Valérie Lamour, who introduced the fundamental scientific context of their work.

Their research makes a significant contribution to understanding the role of type II topoisomerases, and in particular the DNA gyrase A₂B₂ enzyme, which plays a key role in regulating DNA structure.

This work earned Marlène Vayssières the 2025 Prize for Major French Advances in Biology, awarded by the Academy.

This recognition highlights not only the excellence of their research, but also the commitment of the entire team.
