Congratulations to Delphine BALARAMANE on the acceptance of his thesis!

Brèves |

His work, supervised by Michael WEBER (BSC, ESBS), Co-supervisor: Dr. Anaïs BARDET (IGBMC)
is titled: Étude computationnelle des schémas de méthylation de l'ADN et de la liaison des facteurs de transcription dans le cancer.

Summary of her Research:
During her PhD, she developed several bioinformatics approaches to study DNA methylation in different cancer types and its impact on gene regulation.

One of her major projects was the development of MethyLasso, a bioinformatics tool based on a segmentation approach to analyze DNA methylation patterns and identify differentially methylated regions (DMRs) from genomic datasets.
This tool is freely available on GitHub: github.com/bardetlab/methylasso.

In parallel, she worked on a project to predict the sensitivity of transcription factors to DNA methylation in various types of cancer. This predictive approach could provide valuable insights into the impact of methylation on gene expression in cancer.

Skills Acquired at IGBMC:

  •     Development of bioinformatics tools and analysis of complex NGS data.
  •     Application of FAIR principles (conda, git, Snakemake, Slurm) to ensure reproducibility, efficiency, and rigor in analyses.
  •     Extraction of biologically relevant information from computational analyses.

Life at IGBMC:
She particularly appreciated the positive atmosphere within the team, enriched by people from various countries, fostering cultural diversity and a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Funding:
Her work was funded by the Ligue contre le Cancer.

Future Projects:
She is currently seeking new opportunities as a bioinformatician in the private sector.
