Nemanja Milicevic, winner of "les Grandes Avancées Françaises en Biologie" award from the Academy of Sciences
This award aims to highlight young researchers, who are the first authors of published articles, by offering them the opportunity to be presented by their research directors and to present their work to the academicians.
On June 18, 2024, the ceremony honoring the six laureates of the "Grandes Avancées Françaises en Biologie" from the Académie des Sciences was held in the Grande salle des séances of the Institut de France in Paris.
Among the laureates, we are pleased to include Nemanja Milicevic, accompanied by his research director Gulnara Yusupova. Nemanja Milicevic was recognized for his article on the "mRNA reading frame maintenance during eukaryotic ribosome translocation"*.
Their research, carried out using cryo-electron microscopy, has resolved the structure of the eukaryotic ribosome in interaction with various components, thereby revealing for the first time the atomic mechanisms that maintain the mRNA reading frame. This breakthrough provides an in-depth understanding of the process of protein synthesis in eukaryotes.
